"Greenville Stream" reflects my on-going love of the Maine woods and the wonderful streams and waters that marble the hills of Western Maine. This particular stream can be found on Elliotsville Road just outside of Monson, Maine. I understand it is frequently quite dry in the summer, and I have seen it with high water in the Spring. My first visit to this lovely place occurred in the Fall of 2003, and apparently the water level was just right to produce small waterfalls and lovely colors. I think it is impossible to experience Maine and not
reflect rocks and water somewhere in your artwork. It is a recurring
theme for me that crept slowly into my art and is here to stay. When
I returned to oil painting after 20 years, it was very natural for
me to choose this endearing subject. I believe the shear joy of painting
that I felt at the time is reflected in this work.
